Server Startup

The settings in this group define, if and how each of the local servers is started. Available servers are:

News (NNTP) Local newsserver

Mail (POP3) Local mailserver (incoming mails)

Mail (SMTP) Local mailserver (outgoing mails)

Remote Control (RC) Local server for remote control and configuration

Start Auto

If marked, the local server is started automatically when Hamster is started.

Bindings

A list of IP addresses (separated by spaces), the local server is bound to. By default, the server is only accessible locally (127.0.0.1, i. e. "localhost"), but additional IPs of the server (e. g. LAN interface) may be added here for making it accessible from outer world.
To open the server completely for all network interfaces (not suggested), the setting 0.0.0.0 may be used.
Each IP listed here may immediately be followed by a colon and a port number. If no special port number is given this way, the default port number of the server is used for that IP.
Example: 127.0.0.1 192.168.0.1 192.168.1.1:12345

How to ... open Hamster for other computers?

Default Port

Default port numbers for local servers, which are 119 for NNTP, 110 for POP3, 25 for SMTP and 23 for RC.
